While providing healthy prepared meals delivered right to your door is our company mantra, reducing our carbon footprint is also important.
Whether we’re sourcing locally grown ingredients or reusing and recycling our materials, contributing to the green movement is another proud aspect for us at Fresh.
Ahead of every delivery, we encourage our customers to leave their empty Fresh cooler bag from the previous week out for our delivery team to pick up. If you forget to leave the bag outside, don’t fret. You can leave two bags out the following week instead.
Additionally, each Fresh meal is packaged in recyclable plastic and cardboard. Also, our plastic containers with lids are the perfect vessels for any Fresh or cooked-at-home leftovers.
Even the ice packs we include in each Fresh delivery can be rinsed, recycled or reused at your discretion. The gel in our ice packs is nontoxic, water soluble and biodegradable. We encourage you to reuse the ice packs, however, disposing of them is as easy as cutting them open and flushing the contents down the sink or drain before recycling the bag.
In addition to reusing and recycling your Fresh packaging, there are other ways you can help reduce your carbon footprint.
Before heading out to the grocery store, make sure you’ve packed reusable bags, which often hold more food and are stronger than the typical plastic bag. Take it a step further by bringing along reusable mesh produce bags, an affordable alternative that can greatly reduce the amount of plastic you’re picking up at the store. (You can find a host of mesh produce bags online for cheap.)
Pro tip: many stores offer extra savings to people who use reusable grocery bags at the checkout line.
Heading out for dinner? Bring along a handy green reusable Fresh container to pack your restaurant leftovers. You’re not only wasting less food, but you’re combatting the use of those bulky Styrofoam containers that do nothing good for planet earth.
